Adult Art Enrichment Program

Upcoming Class

Join us for a hands-on, four-week Decoupage Workshop with acclaimed Detroit artist Priscilla Phifer, where creativity, sustainability, and skill-building come together. Participants will explore the rich history of decoupage while learning foundational techniques, including understanding paper grain, layering tissue and napkins, working on glass, wood, cardboard, wicker, and more, and properly sealing and varnishing finished pieces. Each week builds on the last, with time dedicated to completing and refining projects - transforming everyday objects like water bottles, baskets, vases, canvas boards, and keepsake boxes into one-of-a-kind works of art.

Throughout the series, participants will discover the benefits of recycling and repurposing household items, experience the joy of creating meaningful handmade gifts, and gain practical skills that make DIY projects accessible and cost-effective. The class also introduces ways to combine decoupage with paint for even more expressive possibilities. Whether you’re new to the craft or looking to expand your creative practice, this workshop offers both inspiration and technique in a supportive, community-centered environment.

This class aligns with the following SDG’s:

Goal 3 – Good health and well-being – improving mental and physical wellness through handmade creativity

Goal 8 – Decent work and economic growth – learning a viable craft for potential self-employment and/or augmentation of income

Goal 12 –  Responsible consumption and production – recycling/repurposing non-bio-degradable items contributes to creating a cleaner, greener environment on land and sea

Accessibility Note: Our studio is ADA compliant. If you have specific accessibility needs or questions, please contact us in advance so we can best support your participation.

Registration is required. Please register only if you are available for all four class dates.

The community has become a staple in our lives, making accessible the passion for art that lay dormant, while teaching valuable lessons about sustainability, community, and lost traditions (arts) of the ancestors.
